The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was named "Best Large Employer" in a Forbes survey of more than 45,000 workers. The distinction is for companies with more than 5,000 workers. The Cambridge university employs 15,000 people.
MIT beat out Google, Microsoft, NASA, and Delta Airlines to claim the title. Fidelity Investments, a banking and investment firm with a Massachusetts headquarters, also made the top 10.
That list includes:
- 1. MIT
- 2. Houston Methodist Hospital
- 3. Mayo Clinic
- 4. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
- 5. H-E-B
- 6. University of Kentucky
- 7. Fidelity Investments
- 8. Microsoft
- 9. In-And-Out Burger
- 10. Cincinnati Children's Hospital
Forbes partnered with a research firm to survey 45,000 workers and asked them how likely they were to recommend their employer to a friend or family member on a scale of one to 10. They were also asked to list other companies they would endorse.
The news site then ranked the top 500 companies.
